Melon knives and forks in mother-of-pearl and gold-plated metal

Melon knives and forks in mother-of-pearl and gold-plated metal

Nacre & Métal doré

Maitre orfèvre :

A very nice service for those who love large gatherings!

This 17-piece set consists of melon knives and forks. The handles are mother-of-pearl with a small, geometrically decorated ferrule, and the forked blades are gilt-plated metal. There are stains on the blades and micro-scratches on both the blades and handles.

What is it?: The melon knife is a 2-in-1 utensil that allows you to both cut the flesh with its blade and enjoy the flesh with the curved fork.

Our opinion: This type of piece no longer exists today, and you could adapt it for other products, especially watermelons... 😋

So, is antique silverware still something only decrepit old grandmas would do?
