We are smitten with this candied fruit service made by Henri Soufflot between 1884 and 1901! Refinement and finesse are the key words: the spoon and the scoop are pierced by hand while the sugar tongs are chiseled with delicate little butterflies.
A little tip:
One of the joys of table setting is repurposing pieces. Sugar tongs are perfect for candied chestnuts and are guaranteed to create a wow effect.
A very pretty set for candied fruit, sweets, petits fours, or petit fours, in its original case.
This set consists of a candied chestnut tong, a jam spoon, a confectionery fork and a fondant or petit four scoop.
In the Louis XV style, the solid silver handles are decorated with foliate scrolls, delicately curling around the bottom of the spatula.
The inside of the fork, spoon, shovel and sugar tongs are vermeiled.
The shovel and fork are carved with floral and plant motifs.
The inside of the shovel and the spoon are re-pierced by hand on the side.
The spoon is shaped like a scallop shell.
Goldsmith's hallmark and Minerva 1st standard hallmark inside the fork, the spoon, the shovel and the sugar tongs.

The Minerva head hallmark was introduced on 9 May 1838. It is used to mark silver items manufactured in France that have been tested using the wet method and recognised as being 950 thousandths (1st grade) or 800 thousandths (2nd grade) silver.
