Vermeil bonbonnière, Restoration period

Maitre orfèvre :

Majestic silver-gilt and crystal bonbonnière, from the Restoration - Second Empire period.

In the Louis XV style, the base is adorned with foliate scrolls and shells resting on 4 openwork feet with volutes. The shaft is beaded.

The wavy handles are decorated with scrolling foliage.

The body, made of cut crystal, is covered with a lid whose fret is adorned with scrolls.

Due to its advanced age, this sweetener has survived many periods/political regimes in our history. The shocks, chips, and scratches are the result.

As you can see in the photos above, the different parts of the candy dish can be disassembled for easier cleaning. A 1.5 mm hex key will make it easier to insert the rivets between the handles.

 

Condition :

  • Minor scratches on the item,
  • Impacts and chips on the crystal,
  • There are very visible scratches on the lid.
  • Impacts inside the handles and the cap,
  • Some gilding is missing from a small part of the shaft.
  • The vermeil is missing from the shells at the base.
